I think this works quite well without the outline. The shading looks intentional and does enough to express the character's form. Kudos to you and @Flyingpiggles10 for the result. I like seeing people implement stylized shaders.

[Blender Bedroom]

The volumetric light rays are neat. I can tell the light angle in the last image is different from the angle of the light rays, which to me suggests they are controlled by a different object. I like the rays so much that I would find a way to shear the rays based on the direction of the sun so they stay parallel to each other. You have cultivated texturing, light, shadow, ambient occlusion, and surfacing well since your first attempt so I feel like you're on a great track. Keep it up!

The way the red cape gets brighter and more saturated near the green moss is goated. The orangey blood moon beckons me.

Every year I embark on a holy pilgrimage to St. Thomas' Great Cathedral to find redemption and ask for the favor of our lord. In this temple I am witness to this holy icon and have once again found faith. Halelujah! Praise our lord Tom! Praised be the Tankmen!
